Langtang Region

The regional north of Kathmandu  offers a multitude of trekking destinations, all accessible without flights. The three major areas are Langtang, Gosaikunda, and Helambu, which can be combined in many different  ways to make treks from seven to 16 days long. The high and isolated region is inhabited by Tamangs whose religious practices, language and dress are more similar to those of Tibet than to the tradition of their cousins in the Middle valley. To return back from there the airtrip is about an hour beyond Kyanjin Gompa, has no scheduled service. And  if you want to return from bus the starting place for Langtang is Dunche.
